If I could I would totally buy my jeans at Shopko or Wal-Mart, but I want actual pants, not floods. So the only place that I have been successful in finding my 37 inch inseam is the buckle, and I HATE paying 100 bucks for a pair of jeans! Does anyone know of a place that has super long jeans that are cheaper? It is just a known fact. If you read the earlier post about our Mice in the house problem, you might have noticed that I received a comment from the only Cat lover on the Vaughan side of the family, Zak, he stated that if we had a cat we most likely wouldn't have the mice problem. Well, Zak must have really prayed hard, because on Friday night, we were eating dinner and we live at the very end of the street in the middle of nowhere and someone stopped in front of our house and dropped a kitten out their car window. At first I was kind of irritated and frustrated, then I let Maggie out of the house to chase it off, but Maggie was all talk (bark), she ran after the cat and the thing swatted at her and she yelped and for the rest of the night she was barking and wouldn't stop unless we put her in the house. The kitten wasn't even afraid of Mags, it would just lay there while Maggie was two feet away barking up a storm. Crazy Dog.

We had Cody's nephews over for a "campout" that night and we had a fire in the fire pit and the kitten walked right up next to the pit and the fire singed its poor tail, it was kind of funny and sad at the same time. So every night since Friday the poor thing has climbed up the brick onto the window ledges and meowed until we would either feed it or give it water. So we now basically have a cat. So thanks Zak, I know I am going against everything I have ever said. I am very disappointed in Cody though, I was in the laundry room on saturday night and Cody was in the garage & I heard him talking to the kitten, so I think maybe Cody and Zak conspired against me. I do have to admit, it is kind of cute, but not so cute I would ever consider actually wanting to hold or pet it.

I know that cats are "supposed" to be good about catching mice, so hopefully this one will be a good mouse catcher. So one day I may just have to teach the thing how to be a ferocious hunter like in the picture below.

Attention Mice:  Beware of Cat!

For all its worth

So on Saturday we went and I got an ICEE and Cody got a Frosty and Maggie was just itching to have some, so we decided she could lick out the cups, it was so funny. We or I should say, I, am having the Kidney Foundation come a take her away. Cody is having a little bit of separation anxiety. I keep telling him that the faster she leaves the less he will feel guilty. So this is the end of White lightning. So we now are on the hunt for another car. We haven't found one yet, but we are diligently searching. We have decided to get a nicer car that will have 4 doors, I love the Accord Coupe, but once we start having kids it will be unpractical. So I will drive the new (we definately won't be buying a brand new car) car will be the car that we don't drive unless we have to and the Coupe will be the designated commuter car. Cody is stuck on buying an Accord. So we will see what we can find.

Houston, we have a problem...

Okay, for all of you who know me, I am a clean freak and germ freak, my kids will never play in the playgrounds at McDonalds or Wendy's, my biggest pet peeve is dusty baseboards. I admit it I am OCD about that kind of stuff. Anyways, so about a month ago, we got home really late Saturday about midnight. I went into our master bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth and get ready for bed. I use some face soap that is a squeeze bottle and when it comes to the end, I usually cut off the top and down the sides so that I can use it all up and not waste anything, it usually last me another week by being a cheapo. So that Friday night I had done just that. Back to Saturday night. So I am in the bathroom and Cody is in the kitchen eating, shocker! I get my face soap out of the shower and a clean washcloth, I go to put my hand in the cut part of the soap and I felt something weird, I thought, "why is there a washcloth in my soap?", so then I pulled the sides down and a MOUSE jumps out and lands in the sink. I screamed! I didn't just make a tiny little noise, I belted out a scream that woke up our neighbors. Cody came running in thinking that there was someone in the house or that I had just been stabbed. But no, even worse, a mouse was in my house! So I started bawling and said that I wanted to move and that I wanted to go back to my parents house and Cody said okay. He is so nice. Cody caught the mouse and then took it outside and smashed it with a shovel, I kind of felt bad, but not that bad. So at 12:30 in the morning I bleached my entire bathroom from top to bottom, then Cody just had to say, well it wasn't only in the bathroom. The next day at church our nieghbor, Justin, came up to Cody and asked, "Is everything okay at your house?" I was SO embarassed.

We bought some traps and set them up. I was niave, in thinking that there was only one mouse in my house, but no, when we got home from work on Monday, I found(literally) out that we had caught another critter. I was determined to sell the house. Cody tried making me feel better by saying that in Priesthood on Sunday almost all of the men in there said that they had had mice at one point. He even told the story of my mouse finding abilities. So now our entire ward knows that I have good lungs and mice in my house. It failed in making me feel better. I was on edge, I wouldn't even sit on the carpet. Then Tuesday we didn't catch anything, so I was starting to think we had taken care of the problem, but then on Wednesday morning, I was getting Cody's lunch ready and I went to throw something away in the garbage under the sink and a mouse ran out and ran across my feet! I screamed, but I think the neighbors were already awake, if not they were now.

So I got mad, I had had it. I told Cody that I wasn't coming home until the problem had been taken care of. I packed a bag and told him that I would be staying at my parents until we had it under control (as if it was his fault). I am such a baby. We caught one more mouse and we have been mouse free for about 2 1/2 weeks and hopefully they don't come back. I guess this is what we get for living in the middle of an alfalpha field.

Blue Ribbon Mags

So on Saturday, it was Garlands "Beet and Wheat Days" (fun name). And Cody's nephew Chaz, who is 14 asked if he could enter Maggie in the Dog Show competition. We totally didn't care, so I made her a "girly" doggie bandana, since she has a blue collar, I wanted her to look like a girl dog, she was referred to as a boy dog earlier that morning while Cody was waiting for me to finish the 10k.

During the dog show we weren't there because we were looking for cars. But when we went to pick her up at Cody's sisters house, Maggie came out with a nice big blue ribbon around her neck. She won "the most well groomed dog". The competition must have been super competitive, seeing the fact that Maggie hadn't had a bath for a week.

Lion Reunited

This is my new favorite U-Tube video. How it works is we can only make a contraption that is 7 inches square because we sling them from a water balloon flipper. They are really fun and most of the time the eggs break. The winner this year was Brycen, his egg was wrapped in toilet paper and duct tape, then he put that in a container that was full of uncooked potato pearls. The funnest was Tolmans and my Moms. Tolman (remember he is only 4) wanted to put his egg in mashed potatoes in a ziplock bag. See the video below to see how that one turned out.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v12.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D02121165cec2c35f%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1329917368%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D7A0366D0604800F511B8E5BA20B63C9FE0F0CE3F.644D3A9DF25F244BBBDE2F09636499EB5FFF264E%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D2121165cec2c35f%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DyFhNcpK8gGlVmzNAwZzS-ESfgdA&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

My Mom got a big jar of peanut butter and took half of the peanut butter out and the put the egg in and then filled it up with the rest of the peanut butter, then she wrapped it in a couple of layer of duck tape. On Saturday morning we went and picked up our grass! Cody has hook up and was able to borrow a flatbed work truck with a forklift, so we used that and it was nice being able to use the forklift to take the pallets of sod where there needed to be.

Cody on the forklift

Originally we were going to plant our grass from seed, but we decided that instant is better, I had to promise Cody that I wouldn't do any "unnecessary" spending in Hawaii, which I stayed true to my word. So when we got home from Hawaii, I called Chanshare Farms and they quoted us a good deal, so we took it! Chanshare Farms is a sod company based here in Tremonton and I heard about them from my cousin, Colton, because last year he did his eagle project and he put someones yard in and called a bunch of sod companies for prices and he called Chanshare and they said that since it was for a service project they would just donate the all the sod. So that made us want to support such a generous and giving company.

On Saturday morning Cody picked up the sod and was back by 9am and Cody's brother-in-law, Troy and his two boys Rhett and Zach came and helped, also Cody's nephews Chaz and Tanner came. My Mom and Dad and my brother-in-law Spencer came too. Two of our neighbors came too. We were so lucky to have so many people there helping us. We started at 9 and we were done by 11:30, it went by so fast, Cody and I were really surprise that we got done that fast, we thought that it would take at least 4 or 5 hours. Everyone who came were lifesavers. My Mom brought me a bunch of flower starts from her house and we planted those, they all look really good. I also bought a bunch of perennials and we planted those as well.

It seems so strange pulling up to our house and seeing green rather than brown. I Love It!

Cody & of May, we headed down to Maui. I love Hawaii, I almost think that I could live there, of course, if I didn’t have to work and have obligations.

So we left on Monday morning and took the non-stop flight, which I totally recommend, don’t do layovers, it just makes you more tired. Last time we went, we had a layover in Vegas and it just is a hassle and I worried about my luggage making it Hawaii, which it did, but on the non-stop flight, I didn’t have to worry about it. So if you are going anytime soon, spend the extra $200 and get the non-stop flight.

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;

Tuesday we went to this really neat Blowhole that my parents discovered last time they were in Maui and it was really neat! It was so amazing.

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
Wednesday we went to what is called the “Fishbowl” the name pretty much describes it. It is a 30 minute hike through lava fields to get there, but it is so worth it! There are so many different kinds of fish and the water is super clear! We took Kandice and Spencer’s underwater digital camera and got some sweet pictures. After we had snorkeled and were on our way back, I wanted to get some pictures, so I went out onto this rock that was surrounded by water and as I was taking some pictures I heard splashing and scraping and I looked down and only 2 feet from my feet were a bunch of crabs going wild and this massive eel totally crunching on a crab, I about died! I screamed and ran towards Cody and was on the verge of tears, it was SO gross. Luckily we had already snorkeled there, because I definitely wouldn’t have gone if I would have seen the nasty eel before we went. For those of you who don’t know what an eel is, it is basically a nasty looking water snake that has a major set of teeth. Those of you who know me, I hate cats with a passion, but I hate anything that remotely even looks like a snake even more.
I didn't think that I would miss him like I do, but I do. His name is Caleb, but when my little brother Joey was learning to talk he couldn't say Caleb, so he would call him Paba, so we all call Caleb Paba.

He is tearing it up out on his mission! He sends us letters besides his e-mails and he sounds so good and he is loving it. He is such a fun kid, we always did fun stuff together when we were little. We shared a bedroom until I was 12, so we always did things together growing up. Now that I am married, when our first house was only 10 minutes away, he would come over all the time and when we moved to Arizona, he would just call and want to talk. Then when we lived with them while our house was being built, we always watched movies together and stuff. I bet that I have filled 500 5 gallon buckets with rocks from our yard. I never thought it would end. In the beginning, we were going to plant seed for our grass, but we have decided we don't want to wait for it to come up, so we are doing sod this Saturday and I am super excited. Cause it means that we get Maggie and Eli. Our sprinkling system is in and working, finally! The ground in the back yard it super super hard, so we had to do a lot of rototilling, but it will be worth it!

After we lay the sod, Cody is going to do some landscape curbing and then we are going to pour cement to make our patio bigger and then pour an RV Pad for our trailer and a spot for Eli's kennel.

It is all coming together and the endless nights of picking up rock will have not been in vain!

Cody &
This is Mollie. She is 1 ½ years old and we got her, basically because I was missing Maggie. The story is that when I was hit by the car in Arizona (another Post for another day), she would try and jump up on me and it wouldn’t feel too well, so Cody’s parents took her home with them for a couple of months. So basically, I missed Maggie after a while and then decided to buy Mollie. Then when we got the two of them together, Maggie hated Mollie and they both would do things that they knew were wrong. So we decided to sell Mollie, I put her up on the KSL Classifieds and within 5 minutes of posting her, I had about 10 callers and they were all really interested. Then I started feeling guilty, so we asked Cody’s parents if they wanted her, cause just before one of their dogs had died. They did want her and so it made me feel a little better that she at least stayed in the “family”. She is really feisty, we actually call her “Guido”, cause she reminds us of the forklift on the movie “Cars” and its name is Guido.

Cody & I was the stake youth committee chairmen and Cody thought that I was 14, so there you go. We would later find out differently on our stakes Young Single Adult River rafting trip in June of 2003. We had a mutual friend, Josh, who later had a mud football party at his house and that was the night that Cody asked me out. We went to the Weber State Fireworks for our first date and it is all history from there. We were married in the Logan Temple on March 12, 2004.

When we were first married we lived in my Grandma & Grandpa Vaughan’s rental house basement, it was really fun living there, my sister and brother-in-law, Kandice and Spencer, lived above us and then Grandma & Grandpa lived two houses up, we loved living in North Ogden.

Then in September 2004, we bought a nice house in Roy and lived there for about 1 ½ years, while we were going to Weber, until Cody decided that he wanted to become an Airline Pilot, so we sold our house (in 2 days) and moved to Gilbert Arizona for Cody to attend Flight School.

Then in April 2007, Cody finished Flight school and we moved to Logan so that Cody could finish his degree in Agriculture and get his flight hours. We lived in an Air Conditionless (it would get so hot, chocolate chips melted) apartment for about 5 months, while our house was being built in Tremonton.

Then on December 21, 2007, we moved into our new house and we LOVE it!

Cody & Zak

So last night we had family home evening and Kate & Zak suggested that I create a Blog for Cody & I. So here it is, Kate & Zak, our first post is dedicated to you guys. It was actually funny when you told us to do a blog, because about a week ago, I was reading your Blog and when Cody got home that night, I told him that we were boring and that we need to do more things like Kate & Zak. So I am not promising anything spectacular with our Blog. In fact, I will be shocked and amazed if Cody ever posts anything. Maybe this will make me better about taking pictures, I always forget to take pictures, actually, I always forget my camera.
